September Weekend is here, and Glasgow’s giving us street food, superheroes, alpacas, fairy magic and a full-on colour festival.

There’s plenty for kids who want to get messy, make something brilliant, meet a princess or simply bounce about until everyone’s ready for an early night.

🍕 Big Feed Family Day Out

Bring your appetite for this one. Street-food trucks, free face painting, Moana and Ariel meet-and-greets, indoor family films and crazy golf make this a very easy day out. Grown-ups can browse the craft stalls or enjoy a mocktail while the kids decide between pizza, tacos and cake.

🦸 EPIC Comic Con Glasgow

Costumes at the ready! EPIC Comic Con is packed with gaming, comics, TV and film guests, plus props, retro games, a kids zone and plenty of cosplay inspiration. Great for little superhero fans and bigger kids who know exactly which character they’re dressing as.

🦙 September Weekend Activities at Summerlee Museum

Alpacas, a bouncy castle and wiggle cars is a strong Sunday line-up. Summerlee’s family day also has soft play, crafts, outdoor games, a penalty shootout and an immersive room to explore. A handy choice if your crew all fancy doing different things.

🎉 70 Years Of Cumbernauld

Palacerigg Country Park is celebrating Cumbernauld’s big birthday with pony rides, inflatables, face painting, crafts and garden games. There’ll be local stalls too, plus a free shuttle bus from Greenfaulds Train Station. A good yin for a proper family day out.

🌈 Festival Of Colours - Springburn Family Event

White T-shirts are very much encouraged for this one. Springburn’s Festival of Colours brings together Holi and Songkran with colourful powder, water balloons, music, games and dancing. It’ll be messy, joyful and probably worth packing a towel for the journey home.

🧚 Fairy Day

Dust off those wings! Wee ones can hear a fairy story, make their own fairy door and hunt through Clearburn Park for hidden doors and a secret message. It’s a gentle outdoor session made especially for younger kids who love a bit of sparkle.

🚲 Burngreen Cycle Park Open Day

This is a lovely chance to give cycling a go with no pressure. There’ll be Balanceability tasters, learn-to-ride sessions, soft balance play and music, with activities for kids from 18 months upwards. No experience needed, but book ahead as spaces are limited.

🦸 Superheroes & Heroines Workshop

Make your very own finger puppet superhero, then send them racing through an obstacle course. Noisy Oyster are bringing this hands-on workshop to the Scottish Mask and Puppet Centre, with all materials included. Your kids get to take their new hero home afterwards, which should keep the adventure going.

🐵 Monkey Madness Magic with Gary Dunn

Bananas, bottles of pop and Chico the Monkey are all part of Gary Dunn’s silly magic show at Mugdock. It’s full of giggles and proper magic, with a nice short running time for kids who aren’t built for sitting still all afternoon.

🎶 Dumbarton Rocks

Live music, street food and family festival vibes are heading to Dumbarton Football Stadium. There are loads of Scottish acts across multiple stages, so you can make an afternoon of it with the kids before the event becomes 18+ after 6pm. A nice one for music-loving families wanting something a bit different.
