Hello Wee Weekenders! 👋

Summer's finally peeking through and this weekend is one of those proper "where do we even start?" kind of line-ups.

We've got Ashton Lane in full street party mode, a drive-in double bill with Minecraft and Grease, and a Frozen Jr show that'll have everyone belting Let It Go in the car home. Throw in a gala day, a summer fayre and some tractor-themed fun for the wee ones, and you're sorted.

🎶 Ashton Lane Street Party

Ashton Lane is going all out this weekend with live acoustic sets, DJs and pop-up performances spilling down the cobbles. Add in street food from Ramen Dayo, Sano Pizza, Ashoka and the rest, plus brel's fairy-lit beer garden, and it's a very easy family day. Free, all ages, and basically guaranteed sunshine vibes (weather permitting, obviously).

🚜 Tractor Tots

A lovely wee session for under-5s introducing them to countryside life through storytelling, rhymes, sensory play and handling objects from the museum's learning boxes. Spaces are limited to ten kids per block, so it's nice and cosy. Booked as a block of three sessions — perfect if your wee one is going through a tractor obsession (we know the type).

❄️ Frozen Jr

Do you want to build a snowman? Of course you do. This young-performer staging of Frozen has all the songs your kids already know every word to — Let It Go, Love Is an Open Door, the lot — plus a few extras from the Broadway show. A brilliant first theatre trip if you've not done one yet.

🎬 Broadwood Drive In Movies

Pile the kids in the car, pack the snacks, and settle in for big-screen fun without the cinema rules. It's A Minecraft Movie at 2.30pm for the wee ones, then Grease at 7.30pm if you fancy staying on (or coming back with the bigger bairns). £40 per car for up to four — great value for a proper novelty day.

🎪 Hilltop Parent Council Summer Fayre

The classic school summer fayre — stalls, games, cake, the works. £2 entry with kids free, and you're supporting the parent council while the wee ones run themselves ragged. Easy Saturday morning win.

🎉 Larkhall Gala Day

A proper community gala day with the whole town turning out. Expect the usual brilliant mix of stalls, entertainment and that lovely small-town buzz. Free and family-friendly — just bring sun cream and snacks.

🎤 WestFest Opening Street Party

WestFest is back and kicking off across Ashton Lane and Vinicombe Street. Outdoor BBQs, street food, pop-up bars and live music all weekend — properly lively but still family-friendly. Wander down, grab some food, see what you find.

🤸 Kingston Gymnastics Club: Showcase & Fun Day

Watch the club's gymnasts put on stunning routines, then let your kids have a go themselves in taster sessions with qualified coaches. Sessions run all day so you can just drop in, and there's a lucky dip and tombola to round it off. Free and brilliant if you've got a wee one who's always climbing the furniture.

🧶 MUMS – Meet Up & Make Stuff

A lovely Southside group for new mums to come together, get creative and actually have a proper chat. Sunday's session is mums-only (4–6pm at The Wee Retreat), and there's a Wednesday option with childcare support for mums and babies. Priority for mums with babies under 1 living near G42, and refugees or asylum seekers from anywhere in Glasgow.
